The Canucks try to extend road winning streak in Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA (NEWS1130) – The Canucks will try and extend their road winning streak to seven games when they play the Thrashers in Atlanta tonight. Vancouver kicked off a four game road trip with a huge 2-1 win in Detroit Wednesday night.

The Canucks and Thrashers are meeting for the only time this season. Vancouver won the last meeting, 4-2 at Rogers Arena on December 10, 2009.

While the Canucks are closing in on first place in the Western Conference and the first Presidents’ Trophy in franchise history, the Thrashers are just trying to keep their post-season hopes alive. They begin the night seven points out of the last playoff spot in the East.

Both of the Sedin twins are on fire. Henrik has three goals and 14 points in Vancouver’s last nine games. Daniel, the NHL scoring leader, is 8-8-16 in the same span.

Atlanta captain and Maple Ridge native Andrew Ladd had his 27th goal on Thursday night, the most on the team and a career-high.

Injured Canucks’ forwards Mikael Samuelsson and Tanner Glass didn’t practice Thursday and are day-to-day.

Roberto Loungo gets the call in goal for Vancouver.
