Computer outage causing delays for Alaska Airlines

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Over 11,000 Alaska Airlines passengers got stranded in airports around North America today after a computer outage caused major flight delays.

Rebekah Green with the airline says the problem was caused by a malfunctioning transformer, which took down their central computer system used to control flights. “We have a temporary solution in place, and so our flights are operating, and then this evening our IT specialists are working on permanent repairs that will happen overnight tonight.”

She says travellers should check their flight status online before heading to the airport.
