It’s still a booming business, but interest seems to be waning. There has been a big drop in the number of folks heading online to look for love. US-based Socialone.com says growth in the industry is trending downward, dropping 58 per cent this year alone.

So, what’s leading to the decline? Some say it’s too much work. Others cite the issue of bruised egos and the total weirdos. For women, it could get a little exhausting fending off gross propositions from guys just looking for hookups.

A report in this morning’s Vancouver Sun suggests some people still have legitimate concerns about privacy and safety.
