VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Big sports fan? Here’s a look at what’s happening this weekend:

NHL

The slumping Canucks still lead their best of seven series with Chicago, three games to two. After winning the first three games, Vancouver lost the last two games to Chicago by five-goal margins.

Vancouver Coach Alain Vigneault is sticking with goalkeeper Roberto Luongo to start game six. Luongo has been lifted in the last two games. In 17 career playoff games versus Chicago, Luongo has allowed four or more goals in seven of those games.

Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford is coming off his first career shutout. Crawford had two assists in the Chicago victories, while the last two Art Ross trophy winners have combined for one point. Daniel Sedin had a goal in game four, while Henrik Sedin has failed to score a goal in his last dozen games.

Vancouver still needs just one “W” to clinch the series. The game starts at 4:30pm on Sunday.

MLS

All signs point to another sunny day at the park for Whitecaps FC, as Vancouver hosts FC Dallas in MLS play at Empire Field. The ‘Caps are in the middle of table in Western Conference, while the visitors are second to last in the nine-team conference.

The Texans are led by reigning MLS most valuable player David Ferreira. The Columbian is known as a crafty playmaker. FC Dallas lost to Colorado in the MLS Cup Final last November. They have had a rough start in 2011, with just one win and one tie in five games.

After last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Chivas USA, Whitecaps FC had injured midfielders Shea Salinas and Canadian international Terry Dunfield return to training along with MLS SuperDraft pick Michael Nanchoff. No word if they will play.  Listed as doubtful for Vancouver are striker Atiba Harris as well as centre backs Jay DeMerit and Greg Janicki. Also on the limp, are midfielders John Thorrington and Russell Teibert.

Vancouver has one win and three ties at Empire Field this season. Kick off is at 4pm tomorrow, and can bee seen on Rogers Sportsnet.

WHL Playoffs

The Western Hockey League Conference Finals get underway on two fronts. In the East, the Kootenay Ice are in Medicine Hat to face the Tigers.  Portland hosts Spokane in game one of the Western Final at the Rose Garden.
