Horton hears another overtime winner

By

BOSTON, MA (NEWS1130) – With the Montreal Canadiens taking an overtime exit from the NHL playoffs tonight, the Vancouver Canucks are now the lone Canadian team still in play.

Nathan Horton scored at the 5:43 mark of the first overtime to give the Boston Bruins a 4-3 win over the Canadiens, clinching the series for Boston.

The Bruins took a 3-2 lead late into the third period, but Canadiens defenceman PK Subban tied the game with less than two minutes to go, sending the game to the extra session.

Horton’s goal was his second overtime winner in the series and Boston’s third win in overtime over Montreal in the first round. The Bruins won all three games that went to overtime in the series.

Boston could be down a man to start the second round.  Andrew Ference could be facing a suspension from the NHL for his elbow to the head of Canadiens’ forward Jeff Halpern in the second period.

The Bruins will face the Philadelphia Flyers next in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
