The Canucks look to build from game one effort

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Canucks are back on the ice at practice this afternoon at Rogers Arena after last night’s 1-0 win over Nashville in game one of their second round playoff series.

Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault won’t want to change much from his team’s first game as they out played and out worked the Predators.

It was the goaltending of Pekka Rinne that kept the game close. Rinne was sensational, making 29 saves in game one, and it took Vancouver 24 shots before beating the 28-year-old Finnish goaltender. Roberto Loungo made just 20 saves for his second shutout of these playoffs. He had to make just 11 saves in the first 40 minutes of play.

Nashville coach Barry Trotz was not a happy camper after game one; he blasted his team in the post-game press conference.

“There’s a lot of guys in that room that should be pissed off,” he said. “Tonight we had too many guys that I call passengers. There wasn’t enough guys pulling their weight and it was not acceptable.”

Look for the Canucks to play the same game while the Predators hope to bounce back from a lethargic effort.

Game two goes tomorrow night at Rogers Arena.
