VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Matt Halischuk fired a puck over Roberto Luongo’s glove with just over five minutes left in double overtime to give Nashville a 2-1 victory in game two over Vancouver. The series is tied 1-1.

Roberto Luongo was strong in the opening sixty minutes, stopping 35 pucks. Nashville forced overtime, when Ryan Suter scored with just 67 seconds left in the third period to tie the game at one. Suter also assisted on the game winner. Luongo had 44 saves overall.

In both overtime periods, Predators goalie Pekka Rinne was very sharp, turning aside 18 shots. His finest save was made off of Kevin Bieksa late in the first overtime period, as Rinne robbed the Canucks defenceman with his elbow. Bieksa had the top of the net wide open, but shot low. The Finnish goalkeeper finished with 32 saves.

Alex Burrows scored Vancouver’s only goal, short handed, two minutes into the second period. It’s been quite a week for Burrows, who scored the overtime series winner in game seven versus Chicago last Tuesday. The next evening, Burrows wife Nancy gave birth to their first child, Victoria.

Game three will be played in Tennessee on Tuesday night at 6pm.
