BC SPCA to start digging up the remains of culled sled dogs

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – There are reports the remains of one hundred sled dogs killed near Whistler will be dug up tomorrow.

A news conference has been called for tomorrow by the BC SPCA, which has reportedly obtained a warrant to exhume the site.

It should take about a week to get all the carcasses out of the ground.

The BC SPCA has been waiting for the ground to thaw after the case came to light in January, when a former employee claimed post-traumatic stress from the killings.

The provincial government launched an investigation into the slaughter, which should see tougher animal cruelty laws come into effect in the fall.
