Wings stun the Sharks forcing a Game 7

DETROIT, MI (NEWS1130) – The Canucks will have to wait till Thursday night to see who they’ll meet in the Western Conference Final after the Detroit Red Wings forced a Game 7 with the San Jose Sharks.

Henrik Zetterberg and Valtteri Filppula scored just under two minutes apart as the Wings stunned San Jose 3-1 in Game 6 at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

The game went close to 44 minutes without a goal before Sharks rookie Logan Couture tallied his fifth of the playoffs. But Zetterberg would respond for Detroit just past the midway point of the period and a couple of minutes later Filppula gave the Wings a 2-1 lead, which proved to be the game winner.

Darren Helm added an empty net goal to seal the win for Detroit.

The Red Wings are trying to be just the fourth team in NHL history to come back and win a series after being down 3-0.

The Western Conference Final begins on Sunday in Vancouver.
