Mariners snap skid with win over the Twins

SEATTLE, WA (NEWS1130) – The Seattle Mariners used back-to-back home runs from Adam Kennedy and Carlos Peguero to beat the Minnesota Twins 5-2 snapping the teams six game losing streak.

With the Mariners up 2-0 in the seventh, Kennedy hit a solo home run and Peguero followed that up with a solo shot of his own. Kennedy’s blast proved to be the winner as the Twins scored two in the top of the ninth.

Mariners rookie pitcher Michael Pineda earned his first win since April 28th tossing seven innings, allowing no runs off three hits while striking out seven, improving his record to 5-2 on the season.

Twins first baseman/designated hitter Justin Morneau of New Westminster had a single in the loss. Morneau is batting .230 on the year with just one home run in 126 at bats.
