Whitecaps and Toronto FC play for cup

TORONTO (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Whitecaps can win their first Voyageurs Cup title tonight in Toronto. The Whitecaps have to score at least once in the second leg to cancel out Toronto FC’s away goal from last weeks 1-1 opener at Empire Field in Vancouver. The winner advances to play Nicaragua’s Real Esteli FC in Champions League qualifying in late July.
Preparation time could be key. Vancouver has had a week to prepare for today’s match, while Toronto was in MLS action on Sunday. The Whitecaps are without strikers Atiba Harris (knee) and Long Tan (foot) as well as midfielder John Thorrington (calf) for tonight’s game. Game time is 5:00 p.m.
The Whitecaps return to Major League Soccer action Saturday when they welcome New York Red Bulls to Empire Field. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
