Manitoba Moose may move to St. John’s Newfoundland

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – What’s a Canucks farm team to do?

The Manitoba Moose need a new home now that there’s something bigger coming heading back to Winnipeg. It looks like the AHL could return to St. John’s, Newfoundland.

The American Hockey League left St. John’s six years ago, and now it’s reportedly going back. The team will need a new name, according to the man who’s making it happen. Danny Williams says too many car wrecks involving moose in the province make a team by that nickname inappropriate.

The former premier of Newfoundland and Labrador says he has reached a tentative deal to bring back the AHL. The St. John’s set-up could feed Winnipeg’s new NHL team or have ties to Toronto or Montreal.
