More charges in Mission murder

MISSION (NEWS1130) – Another man has been charged in the murder of a Mission couple almost three years ago. The case gained prominence after an officer responded but didn’t get out of his car.

Days later a neighbour found Guthrie McKay dead and girlfriend Lisa Dudley stuck to a chair by own blood and still alive. She later died.

25-year old Justin MacKinnon was arrested in Nova Scotia Thursday and is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. So is Jack Woodruff, charged in May.

RCMP Sergeant Peter Thiessen can’t say why the couple was killed. “We’re not able to take it any further than confirming that this was targeted.  It was definitely not a random act.”

Dudley’s stepfather says they’re very thankful for the police’s work. The Mountie who stayed in his car was disciplined and docked a day’s pay. The RCMP later made it a rule for officers to talk to whomever called 911 when it’s believed shots have been fired.
