The B’s speedy start sinks Canucks in Game 6

BOSTON, MA. (NEWS1130) – The Boston Bruins scored four times in the opening 10 minutes and cruised to a 5-2 win in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final series. Goalie Tim Thomas blocked 36 pucks for Boston.

Roberto Luongo was pulled from the contest, after allowing three goals on eight shots in the first eight-and-half minutes of the opening period. Cory Schneider allowed two goals on 30 shots. At Rogers Arena,  Luongo is 10-3 with a 1.70 goals against average and a .943 save percentage.

The Kamloops athlete of last century, Mark Recchi, had 3 assists for the Bruins. Andrew Ference’s goal was the game winner. Henrik Sedin and Maxim Lapierre scored third period goals for Vancouver.

Mason Raymond left the game 20 seconds in, after getting tangled up with Boston defenceman Johnny Boychuk.  Raymond was hit into the boards near the Bruins net.  The Canucks say he has an undisclosed injury and he was taken to a Boston hospital.

The Bruins won 10 of their last 11 playoff games at the Boston Garden.

Boston has won a pair of Game 7’s in the post-season, over the Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning.  Vancouver needed overtime in Game 7 to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks in the opening round.

Game 7 is Wednesday at Rogers Arena.  The puck drops at 5 p.m.
