One hockey fan told 680News he would be watching the game from home to save a little money.

“Beer’s a lot cheaper, two bucks for a tall boy instead of seven in the bar.”

Another fan said the friend with the biggest flat screen would be the party planner.

“(My friend) has a big LED TV, about 60 inches, so we’ll watch it on his TV at home.”

Game 7 was expected to be a major score for business selling the hockey night necessities, such as pizza beer and wings.

A spokesperson for Pizza Pizza told 680News the company is cashing in on deliveries and wing sales could almost double.

“We normally sell 45 to 50 thousand (wings) on a Wednesday. I’d say (it will be)75 to 80 thousand tonight.”

But that does not mean bars will not be full for the big game. Hundreds flooded downtown sports bars to enjoy the crowd and the hockey spirit.

The Air Canada Centre showed the game on the big screen in Maple Leaf Square, drawing a crowd of hundreds.

In Vancouver, businesses are closed at noon – with tends of thousands expected to party is the streets.

Vancouver police say fans were relatively well-behaved over the series, but the province ordered downtown liquor stores closed at 4 p.m. in an effort to stem any alcohol-fuelled troubles.
