Canucks and Bruins set for Game 7 of Stanley Cup Finals

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s the biggest hockey game in the Canucks’ 41-year history as Vancouver and Boston play Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight at Rogers Arena.

After breaking hearts in 1982 and 1994, the Canucks hope to get it right for their fans tonight as they try and lock up Lord Stanley’s mug in their third try.

Defenceman Alex Edler did not take the game day skate this morning. He missed some time in the third period in Game 6 in Boston with an undisclosed injury. Andrew Alberts was on the ice — he was banged up in the same game.

The Canucks also had Manitoba call-up defenceman Nolan Baumgartner on the ice today. He could play if Edler is not healthy enough. Jeff Tambellini is expected to take the spot of forward Mason Raymond, who injured his back in Game 6.

It’s been a long time for Bruins fans as well. Boston hasn’t won a championship since 1972.

The first goal has been huge in this series: The team that scores first has won every game. In fact, the Canucks are 11-2 when they get the first goal while the Bruins are 11-1 when getting on the scoreboard first.

The home team has also won every game so far, and that bodes well for Vancouver. Game time is 5 p.m.
