Shock continues for Canucks after the big loss

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s the day-after for Canucks fans and it doesn’t feel much better. The city is still in shock after last night’s 4-0 Game 7 loss to the Bruins in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Boston will hold a parade for their hockey champions Saturday morning while many questions remain in the Canucks camp and they’re in for a long off-season of soul-searching after blowing a 2-0 series lead. The team’s management doesn’t have much time to think about the devastating loss; GM Mike Gillis has to get ready for next week’s NHL draft in Minnesota and there’s theNHL free agency on July 1st.

Gillis also doesn’t have many days to try to resign unrestricted free agent defenceman Kevin Bieksa, Sami Salo, and Christian Ehrhoff.

Ehrhoff  played the finals with a banged up shoulder, defenceman Alex Edler played with two broken fingers suffered in Game 6 in Boston and there’s word today defenceman Dan Hamhuis is going to need surgery to repair groin and abdominal tears.

Ryan Kesler was hurt while playing in the finals as well. But he wouldn’t talk about what kind of injury limited him to just one assist in seven games against the Bruins.
