VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Nicholas Baligod’s line drive to centre field scored Roan Salas in the bottom of the eighth, to give the Vancouver Canadians a 3-2 win over Yakima in the first game of Northwest League season.

Vancouver scored the first two runs of the contest in the third inning, before the Bears tied it up right away in the top of the fourth inning.

The Canadians used four pitchers, with reliever Taylor Cole getting the win after going two innings. Drew Permison earned the save.

Vancouver is now affiliated with the Toronto Blue Jays. There are a six pack of Canadians on the C’s roster, including former UBC pitchers Eric Brown and Brandon Kaye.

This season marks the sixth decade of baseball at the stadium beside Little Mountain.
