British researchers make breakthrough in prostate cancer vaccine

By

There has been a huge breakthrough in the fight against prostate cancer.

British researchers say they have developed a vaccine that destroys advanced prostate cancer, but leaves healthy tissue untouched.

The Daily Mail reports that the gene therapy successfully wiped out 80 per cent of cancers without causing serious side effects.

Scientist used the body’s immune system to create the vaccine.

The scientists said while it has been tested on prostate tumours, they think this could work on breast, lung and pancreatic cancer.

The findings were detailed in The Journal Nature Medicine.
