VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – We’ve had to wait six years, but the eyes of the golfing world are once again focused on Vancouver.

The RBC Canadian Open wraps up at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club today, but what are the chances the PGA tour will return to Vancouver on a more regular basis?

The Air Canada Championship was held at Northview Golf & Country Club in 2002.  The last PGA stop in Vancouver was in 2005 when the Canadian Open was last played at Shaughnessy.

Rick Dhaliwal with News1130 Sports says the players have raved about the course.

“It makes you wonder if this weekend can help get a PGA tour event back in Vancouver, or maybe more frequent than it has been of late,” he says.

“Vancouver has not disappointed. Shaughnessy has not disappointed. The PGA has to seriously look at coming back to Vancouver on a yearly basis,” adds Dhaliwal.

The Canadian Open tournament director has said it’s important to stop in Vancouver every four, five or six years.
