Ryan Kesler could miss start of season

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Canucks say that forward Ryan Kesler has had “successful hip labral surgery,” but is expected to require 10 to 12 weeks to recover from the procedure.

That means that the Canucks’ Selke Trophy winner could miss training camp and possibly the first month of the NHL season.  The Canucks open at home on Oct. 6 against Pittsburgh.

Kesler was a huge part of the Canucks’ long run to the Stanley Cup final, but his production tapered off late in the postseason.

Kesler had 19 points in 25 playoff games during Vancouver’s run to the Stanley Cup Final but managed just one assist in the final series against Boston.
