A Canuck wins the Vancouver Open tennis title

WEST VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Aleksandra Wozniak of Blainville, Quebec defeated American Jamie Hampton 6-3, 6-1 in the women’s final at the Vancouver Open tennis tournament at the Hollyburn Country Club.
Wozniak has been hampered by forearm tendonitis.
“It’s been a long comeback from injuries, so I’m really excited,” Wozniak said. “It feels really nice especially since it’s in Canada, in Vancouver, so it’s really special.”
She will play in the Rogers Cup in Toronto on Tuesday versus Shahar Peer.
Vasek Pospisil moved up 31 spots in the ATP rankings, after he reached the men’s semi-finals at Hollyburn. The Vernon player is now ranked 155th in the world.
