VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Coastal Health is out with an advisory about a case of hepatitis A at a local restaurant.
A food handler at the Minerva Pizza and Steak House at 41st and Larch has been diagnosed with the disease. However, the authority says the risk of getting hep A is low.
Diners who had appetizers, salads, pasta, fish or seafood between June 24 and July 5, or on July 10, 12 or 13 should watch for symptoms.
Symptoms include: nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, fatigue, fever, abdominal pain, dark urine, pale stools, and jaundice.
Medical Health Officer Dr. Réka Gustafson says it usually takes about four weeks for symptoms to show up.
“That means that based on when the infected person was working, we would expect people to develop symtoms sometime between July 8 and September 1,” she explains.
No cases have been reported so far.
