Brett Lawrie impresses in first week in the bigs

TORONTO, ON (NEWS1130) – What a first week for Brett Lawrie in the big leagues! The Langley native is hitting .333 with two home runs and six r-b-i in six games played in Baltimore and in Toronto at Rogers Centre.

The 21-year-old was 0 for 3 with a walk, in a 10-3 loss to Oakland on Thursday.

The highlight of Lawrie’s opening week came on Wednesday. Lawrie’s grand slam home run in the sixth inning pushed the Jays to a 8-4 victory over the A’s. The Rogers Centre fans were chanting his name and he had a curtain call after the big home run.

Playing at third base, he has made two errors.

Lawrie starts his second week of his big league career on Friday when the Blue Jays host the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
