KELOWNA (NEWS1130) – Jonathan Bacon has been killed in a mass shooting that injured five others in Kelowna, according to inside sources.

Police say one man was killed in the shooting, but refuse to confirm it was Bacon, a high-profile Lower Mainland gangster with ties to the Red Scorpions. News1130 is the first to report Bacon was among those hurt in the gangland shooting.

The Bacon family’s lawyer, Kimberly Eldred, refused to comment or confirm Bacon’s death when reached by email.

Inside sources say a member of the Hells Angels was also shot, possibly Larry Amero of White Rock. We also hear two women were injured in the shooting.

Witnesses say men opened fire on a white Porsche SUV in the entrance way of the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort on Water Street shortly before 3 p.m. Kelowna reporter James Moore of AM 1150 radio was on the scene this afternoon speaking to witnesses.

“Somebody saw men dressed in black, in black face masks, with automatic weapons open fire on a small, white vehicle in front of the casino,” he explains.

Cst. Steve Holmes with Kelowna RCMP says an investigation is underway.

“Clearly this kind of incident is quite rare in Kelowna, however when it does happen it is shocking and traumatic to those affected by it, and is of concern to the people living in this community,” he says.

“The public needs to know that swift and extraordinary measures are being taken in order to ensure that those responsible will be found and brought to account before the courts.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Kelowna RCMP or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
