NEW YORK, NY. (NEWS1130) – It took less than an hour for Gisela Dulko to eliminate Vancouver’s Rebecca Marino from the US Open. The Argentinean beat the 20-year-old in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-3 at the final tennis major.

Dulko did not dominate the match statistically, but the 10-year-pro did break the Canadians serve four times in nine attempts. The 26-year-old also won 91 per-cent of the points when she put her first serve in play during the 59 minute contest.

Coming into the match, Marino was ranked 41st in the world by the WTA, while Dulko was 16 spots lower.

Vancouver Open winner and fellow Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak lost on the first day to American Christina McHale in straight sets.  McHale will team up with Marino to play in the women’s doubles competition.
