Lawrie leads the Jays to victory again

By

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND (NEWS1130) – Langley’s Brett Lawrie continues his red-hot play for the Toronto Blue Jays in his first month of Major League Baseball.  Lawrie hit a tie-breaking two-run homer in the eight inning to lift the Blue Jays past the Baltimore Orioles 8-6.

The 21-year-old Lawrie also doubled and singled and now is on a nine-game hitting streak.  He is batting a sizzling .400 in that streak.  The home run was also his seventh of the season in only a month of play since his call-up from Triple A Las Vegas.  Lawrie has been a monster with runners on base.  He currently has 20 RBI in just 93 at-bats.

Lawrie likes playing in Maryland. He made his debut at Baltimore’s Camden Yards on August 5.  He has hit three of his seven home runs in Baltimore.

The victory moved Toronto back above the .500 mark.  The Blue Jays travel to New York to begin a weekend series against the Yankees Friday night.
