NASHVILLE, TN. (NEWS1130) – Funeral services will be held today in Tennessee for Wade Belak.  The 35-year-old NHL veteran was found dead in a downtown Toronto hotel on Wednesday.  There are reports that he took his own life.

Today’s services in Nashville will be private.

Belak is the third NHL enforcer to die in the past four months.  The body of 27-year-old former Vancouver Canucks forward Rick Rypien was discovered in August at his Alberta home in what police described as a “non-suspicious” death.

Former New York Rangers enforcer Derek Boogaard died in May at the age of 28 due to an accidental mix of alcohol and the painkiller oxycodone.

Belak played with the Nashville Predators, Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames and Colorado Avalanche during his 14-year career.
