VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Starting today, students at all publicly funded, post-secondary institutions in Metro Vancouver will be able to get a U-Pass.
Until now, the program was only open to students at UBC and SFU.
But the new rules are not as convenient as they were before for students returning to BC’s two largest universities, who have had semester-long subsidized transit passes for some time.
Now, they along with everyone else will now have to renew their passes for $30 every month – a $6 increase per month over last year’s rate.
The new U-Passes do not have names or IDs on them to prevent fraud.
There are now 130,000 students across Metro Vancouver who have access to the TransLink program.
