Canadians face Dust Devils in winner take all

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canadians and Tri-City Dust Devils season’s all come down to one game. The two teams will meet in game three of the NWL Championship series with the winner being crowned champion.

Tri-City forced the final and deciding game with a 5-3 victory in Game 2 on Saturday night after Vancouver opened the championship with a 6-3 win on the road.

The Canadians will hand the ball to right-hander Jesse Hernandez. He went 4-4 during the 2011 season with a 4.28 ERA. He recorded 52 strikeouts while issuing only 25 walks. In his last start Hernandez gave up four runs on eight hits in five innings of work while taking the loss against the Boise Hawks.

The Dust Devils will counter with Tyler Gagnon who went 4-3 with a 2.57 ERA during the regular season. He was a 15th round draft pick of the Colorado Rockies in the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft.

Vancouver has never won a Northwest League championship while Tri-City last celebrated the ultimate prize in 1984.
