Witness to fatal hit-and-run says victim couldn’t escape

NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS1130) – A friend of Silas O’Brien who watched the young man get mowed down by a truck on a rural Langley road three years ago says O’Brien couldn’t get out of the way.
Luke Stephen testified at the trial of Brent Parent, charged with dangerous driving causing death and leaving the scene of a crash.
The defence questioned Stephen’s memory of the early morning collision, but Stephen says the truck which hit O’Brien appeared to slow down right before he was hit, as if the driver was looking for them.
