Judge rejects police brutality allegations

The man who allegedly robbed the widow of a murdered Ottawa police constable has had his case of police brutality rejected by a judge in Ottawa this morning.

Kevin Ransdell had claimed he was roughed up by police after he was arrested for the knifepoint robbery of Eric Czapnik’s widow in June last year.

Anna Korutovska had just left a grocery story on south Bank Street when she was robbed of 300 dollars and forced to drive the robber around.

The man charged in the robbery had alleged that police smashed his face and ground it into the pavement after he was arrested.

The judge says he believes Ransdell’s injuries were caused when he resisted the officers, and that Ransdell’s allegations are “a loose attempt to fit a very square peg into a round hole”.
