Some tasty ways to join the fight against breast cancer

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and there are some delicious ways you can get involved in the fight!

“There are certain foods that you can eat that can reduce the risk of cancer,” explains Mijune Pak with Follow Me Foodie. “And some of these always include anti-oxident rich foods.”

Berries, leafy greens like spinach or kale, tomatoes, garlic, green tea, or dried fruits are all high in anti-oxidents.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Society recommends five to ten servings of fruits and veggies every day. “And limiting, of course, your fat and your sugar and alcohol,” Pak notes.

You can also help raise funds at the Pink Ribbon Teas at the Fairmont Hotels around Vancouver and Victoria.

Mijune made a special announcement with News1130 today:

“If you come onto my website today at Followmefoodie.com or if you tweet me @followmefoodie and also @openroadcanada, Open Road Auto Groups is going to generously donate one dollar for every pledge you make,” says Pak.

A pledge could be eating an apple a day or incorporating five servings of fruit a day.
