Man’s foot found in Sasamat Lake

BELCARRA (NEWS1130) – A man’s foot has been found in Sasamat Lake near Belcarra.

The discovery happened on Saturday. The coroner says it looks as though the foot had been in the water a long time, and separated from the body naturally.

“This is just based on the condition of the foot and the hiking shoe, one would suspect that this foot has been in that water for a significant amount of time,” says Coroner Steve Fonseca. “So we could be looking at missing people from as far back as 10 years, maybe even longer.”

The foot was found in a men’s size 12 black Cougar brand hiking boot.

The foot is the ninth to be found in BC waters since August 2007. The last time, in August, a complete lower left leg washed up in False Creek.

Three human feet have also been found on Washington State beaches since 2007.
