Randall Hopley mentally fit for trial

CRANBROOK (NEWS1130) – Randall Hopley has been found mentally fit to stand trial. He’s accused of snatching three-year-old Kienan Hebert from his Sparwood home in September.

Mounties issued an Amber Alert after Kienan disappeared. He mysteriously returned to the home unharmed four days later.

Hopley, 46, made a brief appearance in court in Cranbrook today via video link from a jail in Kamloops. He appeared neat, clean, and much healthier than he did at his last court date.

Hopley will be back in court next month for a bail hearing. All evidence presented at that hearing will be covered by a publication ban, including the results of a psychiatric report.
