VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Snow on local ski hills and the Coquihalla Highway is reminder that old man winter is right around the corner.  And as colder weather moves in, WorkSafe BC and BCAA‘s Allan Lamb is stressing that you make sure your car is in top condition just in case of an emergency.

“They run out of a tank of gas and you have to pull over to the side of the road are you going to be warm enough?  So, food, water and making sure you’ve got some blankets and so on to use.”

He adds despite repeated annual warnings, people don’t drive the proper speed given rough road conditions.  “To drive for the speed of the conditions of the road.  So if that means the roads are wet then that means drivers will have a longer stopping distance,” he adds.
