CAW predicts a tough year ahead in Canadian labour relations

By

TORONTO, Ont. – Two New Years lockouts at major industrial plants in London and Quebec may signal a tough year ahead in Canadian labour relations.

Canadian Auto Workers President Ken Lewenza pointed to the erosion of the manufacturing sector in the country and high unemployment as the key challenges for unionized and non-unionized workers, and those in both the private and public sector.

Lewenza is currently preparing for the next round of negotiations with the major North American automakers and governments, as they look to cut spending.
