DELTA (NEWS1130) – Delta is spending $60,000 to handle its rabbit problem around city hall in a humane way.
The Municipal Hall building has been overrun with bunnies burrowing into flower beds and damaging the foundation of buildings. They’ve caused $70,000 dollars damage to the nearby hospice.
Volunteers will catch and sterilize them before moving them to Ladner Harbour Park, where there’s an onsite caretaker.
The $60,000 will cover the program for five months, the goal of which is to sterilize up to 25 rabbits a month.
Council says if they do nothing, the colony will grow by 20 per cent every year.
