Hundreds of local ladies try out for ‘The Bachelor Canada’

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Hundreds of women waited upwards of two hours Sunday for a chance to impress producers of ‘The Bachelor Canada.’

An open casting call for the show was set to run from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Loden Hotel in downtown Vancouver.

The women there Sunday afternoon were all looking for one thing.

“Looking for love.” said Joyce Cayas.

“Trying to find love,” echoed Roxanne Carriere.

“I’m looking to find the one,” sighed Edrita Kumar.

The show will air on CityTV in the fall.

The women auditioning hope to get themselves out of the dating game.

“Most of us around here, we feel like we’ve tried it all, and why not try this?” suggests Niki Saunders, who made the trip from Kamloops to try out for the show.

“It’s no different than going to the bar, or online dating, or trying any of those other things,” says Laura Fraser.

“Seems that The Bachelor they usually choose seems to be like a whole package kind of guy, like a real man, like actually ready to settle down, where anybody I meet is none of the above,” says Roxanne Carriere.

The ladies say they’re hoping The Bachelor can provide the total package.

“Tall dark and handsome,” is what Kayla Rogerson wants.

“Successful, but at the same time he’s edgy and you know, wanting to let loose at night,” suggests Cayas.

“Fun, ready to settle down, loyal,” are keys for Carriere.

“He’d better be hot,” says Edrita Kumar.

The search for 25 eligible bachelorettes to pursue The Bachelor will continue in five more cities across the country.
