The iPad is taking a bite out of paper menus

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Forget paper menus, check your iPad. Lift Bar and Grill is the first Vancouver restaurant to go this high-tech.

The Coal Harbour restaurant slowly started replacing traditional menus with the tablet last year. General Manager Steve Lobsinger says customers are loving it so far. He says even those who haven’t used an iPad before take to it quickly.

“It’s different, it’s detailed information,” said Lobsinger. “They’re easy to use and really popular in dark restaurants at night, because they’re easy to read.”

Lobsinger says it wasn’t easy to get everything transferred over, and restaurants can take an initial hit financially.

“That’s because iPads aren’t cheap. But you can also work with various suppliers to help in sponsorship aspects.”

He says staff carefully keep count of where each iPad is. He says they haven’t had a single forgetful customer walk off with one yet.
