Canucks aim to dim the Stars

DALLAS (NEWS1130) – The Canucks will look to make it three straight wins this afternoon when they head into the American Airlines Center to play game five of their six-game road trip facing the Dallas Stars.

Vancouver will try and put an end to the Stars’ run of three straight victories. Today’s game could turn out to be a potential first-round series preview as well. The Canucks are currently battling with Detroit for top spot in the Western Conference while Dallas is battling a handful of teams including the Kings, Avalanche and the Flames for the eighth-and-final playoff spot.

The Canucks dominated the Stars last season sweeping the four-game season series and out-scoring them 20-4 overall, including out-scoring them by a combined 8-2 in the two games played at the American Airlines Center. Cory Schneider was the netminder for both Vancouver wins in Dallas last season.

After getting the night off last game in New Jersey, Sami Salo should be back in the lineup which means Andrew Alberts will likely be coming out. Roberto Luongo is expected to be back between the pipes. The Stars will likely counter with Kari Lehtonen.

Face off is at 12 pm on Rogers Sportsnet.
