Liberals say 2 Vancouver ridings were targeted by robocalls

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The federal Liberals say they’ve had complaints from voters in Vancouver-South and Vancouver-Quadra as the Tories continue to deal with the robocall scandal.

In Ottawa, the Opposition NDP is accusing the Harper Conservatives of doing the bare minimum to try and solve the scandal.

The Opposition claims voters in as many as 44 ridings had been targeted with fraudulent phone calls during the last election. They had automated messages or live operators claiming to be from Elections Canada and giving false information.

The NDP’s Jack Harris says the Tories aren’t doing an internal investigation, and are refusing to call a public inquiry.

The Conservatives, though, say there is already an investigation underway by Elections Canada and they are fully cooperating.

MP Rick Dykstra says there is a lot of speculation out there but no proof, so it’s time that everyone calm down and let the authorities do their job.
