Sun destinations the trend for vacationers this Spring Break

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – As the economy slowly bounces back, many of us are planning to get away this Spring Break and especially this summer. But the deals of years gone by aren’t out there.

Brad Davies with Virtually There Travel feels that after a few years of staying closer to home, many are stretching budgets and planning bigger vacations.

“For the benefit of the Canadian market, I’d love to say I was planning domestic trips but that just doesn’t seem to come up on the radar. Everybody wants to book a sun destination and summer bookings on the cruise site of things are incredibly strong.”

But Davies warns not to expect last minute deals. “Airlines have reduced their capacity so you’ve got more clients chasing fewer seats. Any last minute deals are just not out there to the same extent as they were a couple of years ago. “

He recommends if you are heading somewhere this Spring Break, go early, have patience and expect delays as many of the other people travelling don’t do so very often.

His trend for the coming travel season: river cruises. He claims they are great because you don’t end up in the port of a city, you end up right in the middle of town.
