Slushy winter weather hanging on into spring break

COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – If you didn’t expect to start your Spring Break with shovelling, tough luck.

Even though spring is officially a week away, our slushy winter weather is really hanging on.

High up on the hills in Coquitlam, News1130 caught up with Allison, who was out to get some groceries.

“Had over an inch, had to shovel,” she laughs. “Actually, my son shovelled!”

Some places like North Delta, Surrey, Burnaby and the Tri-Cities got a wet two to four cm, while other places saw nothing but sunshine.

As always it’s great news for the mountains (some of which have received in excess of 30 cm of snow since Monday), but in the city, many like Allison are ready for shorts and flip flops.

There’s a chance of wet flurries or rain and snow mixed in the forecast for early Wednesday with another few centimetres of accumulation possible.

Tune in to the News1130 morning show from 5a.m. to 10a.m. for traffic every ten minutes on the ones and the most up-to-date weather forecast from meteorologist Russ Lacate.
