Three separate shootings in the Lower Mainland

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – A man is dead and three others are hurt after a trio of shootings across the Lower Mainland.

Mission

Mounties in Mission aren’t saying much, but we do know a man died after he was shot. Corporal Wayne Chung says a home in the Hatzic area is now a crime scene.

“We attended and located a male who had a self-inflicted gunshot; he was deceased. A second male was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital,” he explains.

Mounties can’t confirm whether it was a domestic dispute, but a witness tells News1130 it may have involved a couple and an ex-lover.

Vancouver

Vancouver Police confirm a man was shot by someone in a car on Commercial Drive near 1st Avenue.

It happened just before 3 a.m., when a 20-year-old man and two friends were walking along Commercial. Witnesses say a number of shots were fired from a dark-coloured car.

Martin tells us he saw it happen. “One of them was on the ground bleeding. The other two were on cell phones, saying that he’d been shot. Then there was blood going from the side of his tummy down towards the ground and away from his body.”

Martin says the driver of an approaching bus rushed out and applied pressure to the man’s wound as police and an ambulance arrived.

The car sped off; police say the victim is in hospital, but he’s expected to be okay.

It appears this was a targeted shooting. There have been no arrests, nor any descriptions of any suspects.

Surrey

The third shooting happened in Surrey in the Safeway parking lot at 104th and King George.

“Our members arrived and found a male had been shot. He was conscious, breathing, talkative… he’d actually run into the store to call for help. He’s been taken to a local-area hospital for treatment,” explains Inspector Steve Wade.

He notes they don’t have any suspects yet. Since the victim is not cooperating, Mounties will be checking surveillance videos.

Police don’t believe these three incidents are linked to each other.
