NUEVO VALLARTA, MEXICO (NEWS1130) – A high profile BC gangster has been killed in Mexico.
Thomas Gisby, 50, was gunned down Friday night in Nuevo Vallarta. Mounties are warning this could heat things up here.
“We’re asking the public yet again to be very vigilant in terms of their surroundings,” warns Chief Superintendent Dan Malo. “We are aware through our intelligence community of some heightened conflicts amongst some of the gangs in British Columbia.”
But SFU Criminologist Rob Gordon doesn’t think the general public should be that concerned.
“It’s really more a message aimed at people who are associated with this particular individual as they may end up being targeted by accident or might even be innocent bystanders in a retribution shooting.”
Gisby was the head of his own gang, known as the Gisby Group, that had connections across the country.
Few details are known about his death, but the gang task force is working with Mexico’s police force on the case.
