Wally Oppal plays stockbroker in Age of Greed: The Bailout

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Wally Oppal has a new gig. The commissioner of the Missing Women Inquiry has been spotted on the Vancouver set of a Hollywood movie.
Age of Greed: The Bailout is about a man who loses money during the 2008 recession and shoots stockbrokers. Oppal was seen on set playing a stockbroker.
Robert Holmes with the BC Civil Liberties Association isn’t impressed, saying Oppal should be concentrating on his job as commissioner.
“I think all of us would like to be in movies, and for Wally Oppal, I’m sure this was presented as something that appeared innocent. But the government is the real culprit here that has to reflect on how poorly it’s handled this whole matter,” he believes.
Holmes thinks the timing is bad. “It probably sends the wrong message to the public about whether or not the commission [job] is something that is full-time and whether or not it is something that is going to fully deal with and fully address all the issues the public had hoped for.”
Oppal has a deadline of June 30th to wrap up the Missing Women Inquiry, looking into why police agencies didn’t catch serial killer Robert Pickton sooner.
