OTTAWA, ON (NEWS1130) – Pro-life activists are taking aim at the Prime Minister over the issue of abortion.

Their attacks come one day before the March For Life in Ottawa, which could be the largest demonstration on the hill this year.

Activists are upset over Stephen Harper‘s stance on a motion that may re-open the abortion debate. The Prime Minister has made it clear that he does not support a Tory private members motion calling for a parliamentary study on the definition of human life.

Because of that, Alissa Golob with Campaign Life has called Harper a coward, and makes a comparison that some would call extreme.

“It’s not a dictatorship. Harper’s word isn’t the only word and we have elected members of parliament that we vote in according to these pivotal issues. Abortion is the greatest Holocaust of our time,” says Golob.

NDP critic Niki Ashton says as far as she is concerned, this matter has already been dealt with by the courts.

“A woman’s right to chose is a decision between her and her physician. Canadians want to move on, look at how we can move forward rather than backward.”

Last year, the March For Life had 15,000 demonstrators but this year they say they are expecting as many as 20,000.
