Barn destroyed by flames in Langley

By

LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – A newborn horse and some other animals have escaped a late morning barn fire south of Highway 1 near 264th.

Bruce Ferguson is Langley’s Assistant Fire Chief and says all the animals and workers are okay. “There was actually a horse barn in the barn yesterday, but all of the animals were out of the barn at the time of the fire. No horses were injured, one of the farm workers had some slight smoke inhalation but he was treated by BC Ambulance.”

Ferguson doesn’t think the fire was deliberately set. “Nothing suspicious at this point, we’re unsure about the insurance, but the property is tied up in an estate, or probate, the owners of the property are deceased.”

Thick black smoke could be seen from the highway late Friday morning.
