Broken ferry fixed for the last day of the long weekend

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – BC Ferries says the Queen of New Westminster will be up and running for the last day of the long weekend.

“So that means no sailing cancellations for the Monday long weekend, which is really good news for our customers,” says Deb Marshall with BC Ferries.

The ferry first encountered problems on Friday, and has been out of commission ever since.

But Marshall says the ship’s rudder and generator cooling system issues have now been addressed.

“The engineers have been working extremely hard to find a work-around. They have found an alternate source of cooling. We will be going into regular operations for that ship.”
